@Helen204, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If you're seeing blue ink outlining or shadowing around colored text, this is typically related to printhead alignment or ink cartridge issues. Here's how you can resolve it:

Run the Printhead Alignment Tool

Misalignment can cause color shadows or outlines.

  • Open the HP Smart app on your PC.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Print Quality Tools > Align Printheads.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Clean the Printhead

Ink residue or clogs can cause color bleeding.

  • In the HP Smart app, go to Printer Settings > Print Quality Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Run the cleaning cycle and print a test page.

You may need to run this 2–3 times for best results.

Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the printer and remove the cartridges.
  • Gently clean the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  • Reinsert them securely.

Make sure you're using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP ink can cause print quality issues.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can affect print quality.

Print a Diagnostic Page

This helps identify if the issue is hardware-related.

  • In the HP Smart app, go to Printer Reports > Print Quality Report.
  • Check for color misalignment or streaks.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
