@korbin1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding cartridge issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you have installed the correct HP cartridge in your printer but it refuses to accept it, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow:
Check for Compatibility Issues
- Regional Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridge is compatible with the region your printer is configured for. HP cartridges are regionalized, meaning they may only work in specific geographical zones. Check the packaging for compatibility information and make sure the cartridge matches your printer's regional setting.
Reinstall the Cartridge
- Correct Installation: Verify that the cartridge is installed correctly. Remove the cartridge and check for obstructions or debris that may prevent it from seating properly.
- Memory Chip: Check if the cartridge's memory chip is damaged. If it appears damaged, you may need a replacement.
Reset the Printer
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve issues related to cartridge recognition.
Firmware Update
- Latest Firmware: Make sure your printer is running the latest firmware available from HP. Sometimes, updates can address compatibility issues and improve cartridge recognition.
Event Log
- Check Event Log: If your printer supports viewing an event log, access it to see if there are specific error codes associated with the cartridge compatibility issue. This may shed light on further actions to take.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
