HP OfficeJet 8015e All-in-One Printer

Just got my new printer with ink. Now I'm suppose to receive new cartridges. I'm I suppose to replace the "setup" cartridges with this new set?

Hi @Jerry443 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

No, you should not replace the "setup" cartridges with the new ones just yet. Here's what you need to do:

  • Use the setup cartridges first: The "setup" cartridges that come with the printer are specifically designed to initialize and calibrate the printer during its first use. This step is necessary for proper functioning.
  • Keep the new cartridges for later: The new cartridges you're receiving are likely part of an HP Instant Ink subscription or a separate purchase. Once the setup cartridges are empty, you can replace them with the new cartridges.
  • Check for prompts: Your printer will notify you when the setup cartridges need to be replaced. Only swap them out when prompted.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
