Instant Ink is a legal contract -- there is a full Terms of Service document that explains your rights and responsibilities.
Please contact Instant Ink Support to have your concern addressed.

The billing for Instant Ink is in arrears; the first bill is at then end of the first month's usage and the last bill will arrive after the last month's usage. The last bill may include the normal monthly charge as well as any additional charges if the monthly usage was exceeded.
Please note that the Instant Ink cartridges will need to be replaced with retail cartridges after the Instant Ink subscription ends.

There should be nothing "hidden" --
Included in the final billing, should be the final month's charges, and, only if applicable, any overage charges for extra pages printed.
After taking a look at the contract where all the subscription charges are explained,
Should you see something that does not make sense or causes you concern of any kind,
Do contact Instant Ink Support.
