Hi @markcalleri,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating this is, especially when you’ve installed new cartridges and your HP DeskJet 2755e still won’t recognize them on macOS 14.11 (Sonoma). This issue usually happens due to cartridge authentication, firmware mismatch, or setup mode conflicts. Let’s fix it step by step:

Why This Happens

  • HP+ printers require genuine HP cartridges and an active HP account.
  • If the printer was previously enrolled in HP Instant Ink, it may reject non-enrolled cartridges.
  • Firmware or macOS driver issues can block cartridge recognition.

Recommended Fix

1. Verify Cartridge Type

  • For HP DeskJet 2755e, you need HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges (or Instant Ink versions if enrolled).
  • Check the label for the HP logo and authenticity seal.

2. Restart and Reseat

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Remove both cartridges.
  • Clean the gold contacts with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert firmly and power on.

3. Update Printer Firmware

4. Check HP Account Status

  • Open HP Smart AppAccount Settings.
  • If enrolled in HP Instant Ink, you must use Instant Ink cartridges.
  • If you cancelled Instant Ink, confirm the printer shows Standard Mode (not Subscription Mode).

5. Reset Printer

  • Press and hold Cancel + Wireless buttons for 5 seconds.
  • This restores network and cartridge settings.
  • Reconnect via HP Smart App.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
