Hi @fjc191,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand that you have trouble aligning the printhead and are not able to use the printer, sorry to hear about the issue, lets try the steps shared below and let me know if this helps.
Reset the printer
1. Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.
- If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.
- Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
- Turn on the printer to complete the reset.
2. Print an alignment page with the HP Smart App
Use the HP Smart app to align the printhead.
- Load plain white paper into the tray.
- Open the HP Smart app, and then click the image of your printer or Printer Settings.
- Under Tools, click Print Quality Tools, and then select Align Printer, Align Printheads, or Align. An Aligning printhead message displays and an alignment page prints.
4. (Single function printers only) Follow the on-screen instructions to select the Alignment pattern choices, and then click Done.
5. If the alignment page includes instructions to scan the page, follow the instructions to finish the alignment process.
