You didn't even answer the question. This called evasion.
I will frame it this way: Several years ago, HP was sued for this exact same issue. I know because I received some money from the lawsuit. I now have a HP Office Pro 7720 that is a few years old, and after years of printing with aftermarket cartridges today I get the message that I because I am not using HP cartridges it will not print.
How can HP go back to the very same circumstance that they created in the past, that was previously deemed illegal?
Speaking as previously loyal HP customer, (I've purchased at least four HP laptops and three printers over the last 12 years) I'm not planning to use your devices in the future.

Hi @G_P_B,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your frustration, and I appreciate you sharing your experience as a long-time HP customer.
HP's Dynamic Security feature was reintroduced in certain firmware updates, which can block non-HP cartridges by checking for HP security chips. This is why your OfficeJet Pro 7720, which previously worked with aftermarket cartridges, may have suddenly stopped recognizing them.
Click on “Devices and Printers”.
- From the list, click on your printer and double click it to open “Settings”.
- Find the option “Estimated Ink Levels” and click on it to open the HP Toolbox window.
- Click on “Cartridge protection”.
- In that tab, click on the button “Disable HP Cartridge Protection”.
Do try and let me know how it works
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
