my debit card is being charged $5.29 a month for ink I didn't order and ink that has never been sent. It looks like I have an  HP account but  there is nothing in my account info regarding ink orders or payment information.  Virtual assistant useless.

Do you have an Instant Ink subscription?

If yes, the monthly fee is a subscription charge for the service.

Ink is included in the subscription.

Ink sent to you only when the printer sends a request for the ink supply to be replenished.

The "way the service works" is explained both on the Instant Ink website and in your Terms of Service contract.

1) If you have an Instant Ink subscription,

2) Are you out of ink??

If Yes and Yes, I can send a request to get you the help you need.

I don't see anywhere where I have an instant ink subscription. My  account section my personal information just list my name and my account information just shows my email and password. There is no area showing address or credit card info.

You are welcome.

The charge may not be from HP, then.

Instant Ink is a subscription service - you cannot have signed up without knowing it - enrollment requires a credit card and a specific number of steps.

A couple of points:

Contact your bank - ask the source of the charge.

If the charge is from HP, have that information ready...

and...

You are welcome.

Well, there you go...

Somehow it does appear that you have indeed subscribed to Instant Ink.

I have never heard of the subscription happening "spontaneously" - you do have to provide your credit card information to enroll.

Nonetheless, I have submitted the request for someone to take a look and help you decide what to do next.

There are some very important caveats to using the subscription.

Ink is supplied as part of an active subscription to the Instant Ink Print-by-page subscription.

Do not stop paying the charge, for example, without first understanding the service and the requirements for cancellation (explained in your regional Terms of Service contract)
