Problem with my inkjet C4280 photosmart printer. After replacing a black print cartridge, instead of printing out the alignment page it, carefully, printed out a blank page and that is all I can get printed out now even when just copying. It appears to be a software glitch, not an ink flow to print head problem. I hope someone can help us.

Hi @s-orion,
I'd like to help!
I understand you are facing print quality issues.
To assist better-
1) Does the copy print out the same way?
2) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or device?
While you respond to that, let's print a Self-test page -
-
Load letter, A4, or Legal unused plain white paper into the input tray.
-
Press and hold the Cancel button (
), and then press the Start Copy Color button (
).
-
Release both buttons. The product prints a self-test report.
Post the Self Test Page here so we can help you further.
You may also refer to this document with steps to fix the " Print Quality Issues" issue applicable for your printer - Print Quality Issues
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Answer to questions:
1) Yes , when trying to copy a document the printer carefully prints out a blank page.
2) a) Microsoft Word
b) No
Results of the self test print page is almost blank, except for three or so closely spaced light blue lines, beginning 3/8 inch from the left edge of the page extending to the right about 1 3/4 inches, about 1 5/8 inches down from the top of the page.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you contact HP support in your region regarding the service options for your printer
Follow the instructions below to reach them:
1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.
6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Have a great day!
Hope this helps!

Your surmise is correct; the printer is out of warranty. I looked all over for the little blue envelope next to my profile name , but was not able to find it. I tried everything I could think of to try to private message you, but need your help in doing that. I also think you are correct in that the issue is within the printer between the C4280 printer cartridges and the. print head. My region is the United States-Florida
