My HP printers cut off the bottom of any printed or copied page. I cannot figure out how to access margins in the printer box.

Hi @MJM2012

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering an issue where your HP printer is cutting off the bottom of pages during printing or copying, which is often related to the print margins or scaling settings in the printer driver, the application you're printing from, or the printer settings itself.

Let’s walk through a few things you can check and adjust to fix this issue:

1. Check Printer Settings for Scaling and Margins

Many HP printers have settings for borderless printing or scaling that can affect margins.

To adjust margins directly from your printer settings:

Open the Printer Properties:

  • On Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers or Settings > Printers & Scanners, right-click your printer, and select Printing Preferences or Properties.
  • On Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, then click Options & Supplies and navigate to the Print Settings tab.

Look for an option such as Borderless Printing or Scaling (this can also be called Fit to Page, Reduce/Enlarge, etc.).

  • Borderless printing removes all margins, which might be why the bottom of your page is cut off. Uncheck this option if it's enabled.
  • If there's an option for Scaling or Page Fit, try adjusting it to ensure the content fits properly on the page without cutting off.

If your printer offers specific margin settings (depending on your model), make sure they’re set to the default or an appropriate value for your paper size.

2. Check Application-Specific Settings (e.g., Word, PDF)

If you're printing from a specific application, like Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or others, you may need to adjust the margins or page setup within that program.

In Microsoft Word:

  1. Go to File > Page Setup or Layout > Margins.
  2. Ensure that your margins are set to Normal or a standard size (e.g., 1 inch on all sides).
  3. Under Layout, make sure that Scaling is set to 100% or Actual Size.

In Adobe Acrobat (PDF Files):

  1. Go to File > Print.
  2. Make sure to select Actual Size or Fit to Printable Area (not "Shrink to Fit" or any options that might crop or resize the page).
  3. Also, check that the page size matches the paper size you're using (e.g., A4, Letter).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
