Hi @Stoney666

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry your 4x6 photo prints are cutting off the right edge—it’s frustrating when the image doesn’t fully reach the paper’s edge, especially when everything else seems aligned. You’ve done everything right by checking the printer and paper setup.

Let’s walk through the key settings that ensure full-width borderless printing on your HP Smart Tank 6001.

Step-by-step actions to fix edge cutoff on 4x6 photo prints

1. Confirm borderless printing is enabled

  • Open the HP App.
  • Select your printer > Print Settings.
  • Choose Photo Printing.
  • Under Paper Size, select 4x6 in (10x15 cm).
  • Under Print Quality, choose Best.
  • Enable Borderless Printing.

If this option is missing, make sure you’re using photo paper and not plain paper.

2. Check paper type and tray alignment

  • Use HP Advanced Photo Paper or equivalent glossy photo paper.
  • Load the paper into the main input tray, aligning it snugly to the right edge.
  • Adjust the paper guides so they touch the edges without bending the paper.

Misalignment can cause the printer to shift margins and cut off edges.

3. Set correct print settings in your app or software

If printing from Windows:

  • Open your photo in the app (e.g., Photos, Paint, or Adobe).
  • Press Ctrl + P > Select your HP Smart Tank 6001.
  • Click Printer Properties or Preferences.
  • Set:
    • Paper Size: 4x6 in
    • Paper Type: Photo Paper
    • Print Quality: Best
    • Borderless Printing: Enabled

Some apps default to “Fit to Page” or “Shrink to Fit”—disable these if they crop the image.

4. Use the HP App’s photo print feature

  • Open the HP App.
  • Select Print Photos.
  • Choose your image and select 4x6 borderless.
  • Confirm preview shows full edge coverage before printing.

Let me know how the printer behaves after these steps. If the right edge still cuts off, we can test with a different image or app to isolate the issue.

You’ve done everything right by staying observant—I’ll be here to guide you further if needed.
