I understand you are not able to use the new replacement ink cartridges due to this error. Apologies for the inconvenience caused. To assist you better,
- What is the exact error message and where do you see this error?
- Are you sure this is an HP genuine ink cartridge?
- Validate this by clicking here - HP Anti-Counterfeit and Fraud (ACF) Program
If this is a genuine HP ink cartridge, I would need some information related to the ink cartridges and the printer which cannot be shared on a public post for security reasons.

For a HP Officejet Pro 8720 I attempted to install a new HP ink cartridge marked as 952 or 952XL cartridge.
I receive an older generation cartridge error. "The indicated cartridge is an older generation cartridge that does not
work in your printer. It can still be used with some older printer models."
