@Marshall_73, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP OfficeJet 9018 printer is not printing text or images after replacing the printhead, and it prints fine with the original printhead, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
Step 1: Ensure Compatibility and Proper Installation
Make sure the new printhead is compatible with your printer model and is correctly installed. Refer to the following points:
- Check Compatibility:
- Verify that the printhead is designed for your specific printer model, HP OfficeJet 9018.
- Proper Installation:
- Double-check that the printhead is firmly seated in the carriage.
- Ensure that the latch securing the printhead is closed properly.
Step 2: Printhead Alignment
New printheads often require alignment to function correctly.
- Align Printheads:
- On your printer’s front panel, initiate the printhead alignment process.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the alignment.
Step 3: Printhead Cleaning
Sometimes printhead contacts might be dirty or not connecting properly.
- Clean Printhead Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and open the access door.
- Remove the printhead and clean its electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water (not alcohol).
- Clean the contacts inside the printer where the printhead is inserted.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before re-inserting the printhead.
Step 4: Check for Firmware Updates
Ensure your printer firmware is up-to-date to support the new printhead.
- Firmware Update:
- Visit the HP Support website and check for any available firmware updates for your OfficeJet 9018.
- Follow the instructions to update the firmware.
Step 5: Test Print Quality
Run a print quality diagnostic to identify any issues.
- Print Quality Diagnostic:
- Go to your printer’s menu and select the print quality diagnostic test.
- Review the test page for any missing colors or alignment issues.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
