Hi @GK7984
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your printer is printing overlapping or ghosted images, where a faint, slightly offset version of the page is printed over the original, creating a blurry or duplicated effect. This can happen for various reasons, such as issues with the printer settings, hardware malfunctions, or toner/cartridge problems. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Settings
Sometimes, printer settings such as the print quality or paper type can cause unexpected print results. Adjusting these settings can often help.
Steps:
- Open the Printer Settings on your computer:
- On Windows, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and choose Printing Preferences.
- On Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click Options & Supplies.
- Check that the print quality is set to a normal level (not too high or too low).
- Set the correct paper type (e.g., plain paper, photo paper).
- Try adjusting the print resolution to see if that improves the output.
- Disable any duplex printing (double-sided printing) if it’s enabled, as this can sometimes lead to issues like overlapping.
2. Check for Toner or Ink Cartridge Issues
If your printer is a laser printer, overlapping prints can sometimes be caused by toner issues, such as low toner or incorrect cartridge installation.
Steps:
- Check toner or ink levels to ensure they are not low or uneven.
- If you have a laser printer, try removing and gently shaking the toner cartridge to redistribute the toner evenly inside.
- If possible, replace the toner cartridge to see if it resolves the issue.
- If your printer uses ink cartridges, check if the cartridges are installed properly or need to be replaced.
3. Clean the Printer Heads or Nozzles
Clogged print heads or nozzles can cause various print defects, including overlapping prints or ghosting.
Steps:
- Most printers have an option to clean the print heads automatically through the printer's settings or software. Check your printer’s manual or the software installed on your computer for this feature.
- For inkjet printers, use the printer’s cleaning function or run the head cleaning cycle through the printer’s control panel or utility software.
- For laser printers, use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the toner cartridge and inside the printer gently to remove excess toner.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

If possible, could you post a copy of the document so I can see the defect first hand?
