Hi @whereisthecyan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 200 is not printing cyan even with a new cartridge, it indicates there could be a problem with the ink system or printhead. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Troubleshooting Steps for Missing Cyan Ink
1. Verify Cartridge Installation
- Check Installation:
- Open the printer and ensure that the cyan cartridge is properly installed. Remove the cartridge and reinsert it, making sure it clicks into place.
2. Inspect the Cyan Cartridge
- Check for Issues:
- Ensure that the new cyan cartridge is not defective. Sometimes even new cartridges can have issues. If possible, try using a different new cyan cartridge to rule out the possibility of a defective cartridge.
3. Clean Cartridge Contacts
- Clean Contacts:
- Power off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cyan cartridge.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water or isopropyl alcohol to clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer where the cartridge makes contact.
- Allow everything to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
4. Perform Printhead Cleaning
Automatic Cleaning:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup or Tools.
- Select Clean Printhead or Printhead Cleaning and follow the on-screen instructions.
Manual Cleaning:
- If the automatic cleaning does not work, you might need to manually clean the printhead. This involves removing the printhead and gently cleaning it with a lint-free cloth moistened with water or isopropyl alcohol. Consult the printer’s manual for specific instructions on how to do this.
5. Check Print Settings
- Review Settings:
- Ensure that the printer settings on your computer are not set to grayscale or another mode that might skip the cyan ink. Go to Printer Properties or Printing Preferences and make sure color printing is enabled.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
