HP Officejet Pro 8610 (465771)
I have replaced all ink cartridges with real HP ink cartridges. I replaced the Yellow cartridge twice with a brand new cartridge and I still get the error message that it is damaged. They are both brand new. I replaced ALL of them with brand new cartridges and I still am getting the error message. I removed them all, unplugged the power cord from the rear of the printer, let it sit for 5 minutes, plugged it back in, let it warm up, put the cartridges back in, and I still get the error message and I cannot get this error message to clear and I cannot print a single thing, even with just black ink. PLEASE HELP!

Hi @BobbiGr,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’ve done a thorough job troubleshooting the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610. Since you’re still seeing the “one or more cartridges appear to be damaged” error despite replacing all cartridges, here are a few additional steps you can try.
Check Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove all the ink cartridges.
- Inspect the contacts on both the cartridges and the printhead. Ensure there’s no debris, ink, or damage.
- Clean the contacts gently with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab slightly moistened with distilled water or rubbing alcohol.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
Inspect the Printhead:
- With the cartridges removed, inspect the printhead for any damage or obstruction.
- If you see any signs of damage or dirt, clean the printhead gently with a lint-free cloth.
Reset Printer Settings:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check if the error message persists.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
- Check if the error message is cleared.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes firmware updates can fix issues related to cartridge recognition.
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Make sure the cartridges are genuine HP cartridges and are compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8610.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help resolve the issue and get your printer back to normal operation.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
