please give us a work around to reuse and refill hp 952xl cartridges for an officejet pro 8710. You can reccomend all you want but can't force us to buy new cartridges. Or if it is legal, please provide the legal code to allow this monopolization.

Hi @morgant707,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP 2000 Notebook PC is showing the code 64936017 after entering the administrator password. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Confirm the type of password screen
This code appears only when the BIOS/Administrator password is entered incorrectly several times.
It isn’t related to your Windows login password.

Restart the notebook and try accessing the BIOS again
Turn the laptop off completely. Turn it back on and press Esc, then F10.
Check if it prompts for the BIOS password again.

Know what the displayed code means
The number 64936017 is a “system disabled” code.
This appears when the BIOS is locked and requires a generated reset key.

Try entering the password again carefully
Make sure Caps Lock or Num Lock isn’t changing what you type.
BIOS passwords are case-sensitive.

If the BIOS password is forgotten
This model doesn’t support manual password reset.
A special unlock key must be generated using the system disabled code.

I hope this helps.

No I am looking for… please let us know how to reset memory on the printer to reuse hp 952XL ink cartridges

HP Recommended

Hi,

Thank you for your patience. I understand you’re looking for a way to reset the printer memory so you can reuse or refill HP 952XL cartridges with your OfficeJet Pro 8710.

The OfficeJet Pro 8710 does not support a reset or override that allows the printer to ignore the cartridge’s internal chip.
The chip tracks usage and communicates ink status to the printer. Once the chip registers as empty, it cannot be reset through the printer, software, or any service menu.

It is part of the cartridge’s authentication and ink monitoring system.

Firmware and hardware are designed so they cannot be altered through reset codes, diagnostics, or factory resets.

Reset the printer

Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

  1. If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.
  2. Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  4. Wait 60 seconds.
  5. Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
  6. Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Replace the problem cartridge

Installing a new cartridge usually resolves cartridge errors.

  1. Obtain a replacement cartridge.
  • Printer is enrolled in Instant Ink. Replacement cartridges are part of your subscription. If you have another Instant Ink cartridge on hand, install it. Otherwise, contact HP Instant Ink support for a new cartridge.
  • Printer is NOT enrolled in Instant Ink. Go to the HP Store or a local retailer to find and purchase compatible supplies. HP recommends genuine HP cartridges.
  1. Open the door or lid to the cartridge access area. Wait until the carriage stops moving before continuing.
  2. Remove the cartridge indicated in the error message, and then insert the new cartridge into the slot.
  3. Repeat these steps to replace any other cartridges indicated in the error message.
  4. Close the door or lid to the cartridge access area, and then follow any instructions to align the printer.

I hope this helps.

I have followed the reset steps and it still does not work. I am not going to purchase new cartridges when I have the original Hp cartridges and have refilled them. They are full but the printer will not realize that. You are free to send me new cartridges for free or a way to tell the printer to reuse the perfectly good cartridges I already have. You cannot force people to use specific cartridges without offering a work around. This is not legal. Anticipating your resolution to this major headache.
