Hi @ClarkyF,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP ENVY Inspire 7924e printer is having an issue with print quality, specifically missing lines, despite having new cartridges. Here are some steps you can follow to try to resolve the issue.
Check Ink Cartridges:
- Even with new cartridges, they can sometimes be defective. Make sure the cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly.
- Check for any protective tape on the cartridges that might not have been removed.
Run a Print Head Cleaning:
- Go to the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel and find the option to clean the printhead. This can help clear any blockages in the printhead that could be causing missing lines.
- You can also do this via the printer's web interface if it's connected to a network.
Print Quality Diagnostic Report:
- Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Report from the printer settings. This will help identify any issues with the ink flow or printhead. If you see lines missing in the diagnostic print, it could indicate a printhead or ink delivery issue.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, issues like this can be addressed through firmware updates.
Check Paper and Settings:
- Ensure you're using the right type of paper for your prints and check that the print settings match the type of media you're using (e.g., plain paper, photo paper, etc.).
- If you are printing from a specific program, try printing a test page from the printer's control panel to rule out software issues.
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s website. It can help diagnose and fix many common printer issues, including print quality problems.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
