Hi @Martin19591,

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand your printer is only printing in black and white after installing Microsoft Office. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the print settings inside Office apps
When you click Print, select Printer Properties and make sure Color (not Grayscale or Black & White) is selected.
Office apps can override printer defaults, so this is an important first check.

Verify color mode in Windows printer preferences
Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Right-click your printer → Printing Preferences.
Ensure the Color option is enabled here as well.

Remove and reinstall the full-feature driver
Windows sometimes installs a basic driver that only supports monochrome.
Remove the printer, then reinstall it using the HP Smart app or the Full Feature Software from HP’s website.

Run a color test directly from the printer
Print a color diagnostic page from the printer’s control panel or settings.
This confirms whether the printer itself can print color.

Check ink or toner supplies
Make sure all color cartridges have sufficient ink/toner and are properly seated.
Low or unrecognized cartridges can force the printer into black-only mode.

Restart Office and the PC
After changing settings and reinstalling drivers, restart the PC to ensure Office picks up the new printer settings.

I hope this helps.

Hi Kuroi, sorry for the situation but I deleted the printer then reinstalled and all seems good now actually printing in colour. Not sure what I did but at least it is sorted.

Thank you for your support
