HP 2711x 27-inch Diagonal LED Monitor
Microsoft Windows 11

I had to rebuild a crashed system.  My monitor from 2011 was operating great until I rebuilt the system.  Now it looks like an 800 dpi (??) monitor (i.e. large icons and letters) instead of what it really is.  Also, I don't have an operating guide to see if there is anything to be done manually through it's operating buttons.  The only driver appears to be the Windows basic monitor driver.  Two other OLD non-HP monitors are working just fine; this one isn't.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi @MCK1946

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP 2711x monitor is not displaying correctly after rebuilding your system, likely due to missing drivers or incorrect settings.

Here’s how you can resolve the issue:

1. Install the Correct Monitor Driver

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for specific drivers for your HP 2711x monitor. If none are available for Windows 11, you may need to use compatibility mode with older drivers.

2. Adjust Display Settings

  • Right-click on your desktop and select Display Settings.
  • Scroll down to Advanced Display Settings and ensure the resolution is set to 1920 x 1080 (the native resolution for your monitor).
  • If the resolution is not available, update your graphics card driver.

3. Update Graphics Card Driver

  • Open Device Manager (press Windows + X and select Device Manager).
  • Expand Display Adapters, right-click your graphics card, and select Update Driver.
  • Alternatively, visit your graphics card manufacturer’s website (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) to download the latest drivers.

4. Use the Monitor’s On-Screen Display (OSD)

  • Access the monitor’s OSD menu using the buttons on the monitor.
  • Check for options to adjust resolution, aspect ratio, or scaling.
  • If you need guidance, you can find the user manual for the HP 2711x monitor online.

5. Test with Another Device

  • Connect the monitor to another computer or laptop to rule out issues with your rebuilt system.

6. Check Connection Type

  • Ensure you’re using the correct cable (HDMI, DVI, or VGA) and that it’s securely connected.
  • If possible, test with a different cable to rule out connection issues.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
