I've seen other posts on this but are locked. I own a small computer repair shop and have heard this numerous times and have been witness to it once. HP outsources their support. Their support will help with the printer issue or whatnot but then will continue to scam the customer with additional warnings or errors. I had yet another one today from HP for a tune to $400 for one year "anti hacking security". This has been going on for quite some time and I'm not sure why HP won't address it. This is not a case where they googled for help and clicked on the wrong link or scammy site. I saw others having same issues and also confirmed number came from hp smart app. This is absolutely happening thru legitimate hp numbers. Your 3rd party support is helping with the issue BUT ALSO gone rogue and then scamming for additional amounts, in this case $400.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
