A major app. Hallmark Card will not work with this printer after several years.......HP print and scan doctor indicates a driver conflict.  After several attempts to download the driver on my own, I followed each step indicated by the doctor and downloaded OJ8710_full_webpack_40.12.1161.exe, uninstalled everything and reinstalled.  Previous to this effort the driver installed was 40.11.1130.17123.  After the effort described above completed successfully (apparently) the driver indicated was still the same (not40.12.1161). No change from Win7 but seems the printer keeps using the windows driver, not HP's after all my efforts.

How can I install the currently indicated 40.12.1161 driver alone!  Everything else we used will print, not the HP application using card stock (worked great for years).  I don't want to buy a new printer because of one application but frustration may win out!  Help

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

Remove the USB if connected

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8710-all-in-one-printer-series/790... select the correct operating system and try downloading and installing the drivers.

I went through your procedures, inspected the 8710(usb) properties and see the Driver as hp driver 5/3/2017 40.11.1130.1723 .  This seems the same as previous and not 40.12.1161 64.4mb Oct 18 2018 which was downloaded via your steps.......?  Jim

Also, HP print and scan doctor no longer indicates a driver conflict.......?

Yes, all other apps print well (Word, Firefox, Thunderbird, numerous recipe apps, TTax, etc.  I had tried all he card stock type selections in both HP print and Hallmark to no avail until I started working with you.  Even common paper stock would print the Hallmark cards well.  After i performed your procedures and saw the driver conlict no longer in the Dr., I attempted again using the index card 8.5x11 for Hallmark and other matte inkjet paper for HP and printed a test card well.  Do I need to select each of the ones just mentioned on both products or only on one or the other. The problem before yesterday, the card would print off center or not at all..........even without finding the new driver indicated, will it now work (consistently)?  Jim

I just tried to print a card for my wife. I set the media on Hallmark to the index card 8.5x11.  went to the printer and tried to specify the same media index card 8.5x11; could not find it in the various paper options and used the matte brochure selection............it again printed the card off center........print started about half way down the desired card art.  Help!  Jim
