Ink Tank 415 Wireless
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All,

after replacing my home router I needed to re-connect my printer to the wireless network of the new router.

I tried many times using the HP software bundle which i downloaded from HP support website but every time I face an error that the printer cannot connect to the wireless network and that the SSID might be wrong if entered manually (which isn't the case)

I tried using "HP Smart" app which prompted me for an admin password that I do not know and have no clue how to reset that

I did some research yesterday and learned that there is no button combination or straight forward method to factory reset the printer.. only a few other people facing same issue and looking for solution and was hoping someone can help me or send me the steps to reset the printer

- The printer model is HP InkTank Wireless 415

- Everything is working fine (printing/scanning) except that I cannot access some settings like the wireless configuration

- I can access wifi direct normally

- When i printed a printer status report it says that admin password is "not set"

many thanks in advance

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to connect the printer to the new router, I am glad to assist you.

Restore network settings to default settings

Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.

Follow the steps mentioned on page number 68 to connect the printer to the new router:- click here

Let me know how it goes.

I already tried that but no matter what i do i always end up facing this error

Tried changing network SSID & password several times (and tried removing special charachters from ssid and password)

Tried wps already and failed as well

This might require one on one interaction to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Keep me posted.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
