I am trying to re-install Basic Drivers for Envy Photo 7800 (HP_7800_BasicX64_webpack.exe).  I have done this before successfully.  The printer is physically wired to my router.  The computer is physically wired to my router.

I can log into the printers internal web server at it's IP address (192.168.1.14)

The automatic setup can not find the printer .  Manual setup says is can not access the printer by the provided IP address.

Hi,

Please download and install below drivers for your printer, by reviewing your described filename it does not seems as the exact and latest driver:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/EN7800/basic/Basic_Webpack_x64-44.11.2778-EN7800_...

If that doesn't work, please open the Run dialog (Start > Search for Run) and type appwiz.cpl, then press OK.

Locate the HP Envy Photo 7800 Basic Device Software and uninstall the software.

Restart your computer, reinstall the latest drivers above and check for any changes.

Please let me know how it goes,
Shlomi

I feel like I am going crazy !  I have done this before on many HP printers, but I can not get it to work on this one (bad touchscreen?).

I can not get it to do a wireless automatic setup.  I can not get into the MANUAL setup via the touch screen.

I CAN connect to it via USB but the HP Smart app (Win11) will not let me change any network settings.

NOW WHAT ????

First I have to say, this was the absolute WORST experience I have ever had setting up an HP printer  !  I will bet I spent about 3 HOURS !  Here are some IMPORTANT TIPS !

  • I don't know why, but I could not get to to automatically get it to connect to my WiFi router (Netgear RAX36)
  • You can talk to the printer via USB but you must have a USB-B cord.  Being a geek, I actually had 2 !
  • Google does NOT KNOW ALL !  Google says you can NOT talk to the Embedded Web Server (EWS) via USB, but you can !
  • Plug in your cord in and start HP Smart on you PC.
  • Connect to the printer
  • Find Advance Settings.  This will connect you to the EWS.

It still took many minutes to configure the printer to run on my 5GHz network and have a FIXED address !

Once you are connected wirelessly, select DHCP and let the printer get an address. It took several reboots of both the printer and my PC, but eventually I could talk to the printer via my web browser and set a fixed address. Of course that require a printer reboot !
