Hi everyone,

I recently bought a used HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e, but I can’t complete the setup. The printer connects to Wi-Fi fine, but the screen keeps showing “Setup Incomplete. Continue setup at 123.hp.com.”

When I try to set it up through the HP Smart app, it says “This printer needs to be set up” and then removes it from the app. I've already:

Factory reset the printer multiple times

Had the previous owner remove the printer from their HP account

Accessed the hidden service menu, but only found options like “Semi-Full Reset”, no options like OOBE Reset or Clear HP+ Lock

Tried setting up with different phones and networks — same issue

Can anyone support in that please 🙏

Thanks in advance!

Hi @BarsomMagdy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out. You've already taken some solid steps — especially getting the previous owner to remove the printer from their HP account and attempting factory resets. Based on your description, the issue is likely related to HP+ activation lock (OOBE loop), which can only be fully cleared through specific steps beyond normal user access.

Let’s walk through everything in order and identify what’s left.

1. Confirm Removal from HP Account

Visit:
🔗 HP Smart

Log in with the previous owner's HP account and ensure the OfficeJet Pro 8025e is no longer listed.

Then log into your own HP account and try adding it again.

2. Use HP Smart with a Fresh Account (and Clean Cache)

  1. Create a new HP account (for testing):
    🔗 HP Smart
  2. Remove printer from your HP Smart app and clear app cache:
    • On iPhone: Delete and reinstall the HP Smart app
    • On Windows 11: Clear HP Smart app cache in settings
  3. Reboot printer
  4. Open HP Smart and click “Set Up a New Printer”
  5. Follow the prompts to complete OOBE on the same Wi-Fi network

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi VikramTheGreat

Thanks for the reply unfortunately that didn't work

I have tried other thing that I enter to the IP address of the printer and search for enable web service and make it on

In this case I got another issue regarding the cartridge should be linked to HP+ account, and I am not able to

I changed the cartridge to another not with HP instant ink subscription

I am able to print and to operate with it

But I am still not able to register the printer to HP smart APP .
