My 8020e printer dropped connection (again). This is a nightmare every time it happens. It takes hours to resolve. And this time is no different. I finally got frustrated and uninstalled everything HP and started over.
I started with “HPEasyStart-13.6.5-OJP8020_49_11_4670_1_Webpack.exe”
I set up the printer (signed into the wireless and got an IP Address)
IP Address 192.168.X.XX (Yes last two positions X’ed out on purpose)
Software returned was found, Continue
Entered PIN
Internet, sign in to HP for EasyStart (It starts Microsoft Edge, which I never use, not my default browser. Doesn’t surprise me that there’s problems.)
“We're sorry that this is taking longer than expected. Select the button below to continue.”
Select here to continue
The message after selecting “here” is that there’s a problem connecting. So I load my preferred browser and go to https://www.hpsmart.com and guess what? I log in fine!
I can’t complete the install after this point.
I’ve run Print and Scan Doctor 5.7.4 a number of times with no success.
-----------------------
I’ve already paid $35 for support for another printer that I never received. So, the money and the response to my ticket must have gone down the same rabbit hole. Before I try that again, I’ll chuck this thing in a dumpster and never buy another HP in my life.
Sorry, this isn’t the first time, just a different problem setting it up every time.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
