Hi @Lukrecija,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to connect your HP Smart Tank 500 Series All-in-One Printer, follow these steps:

1. Check for USB Connectivity:

  • If your printer does not have a wireless connection and you want to use a USB connection, you will need to purchase a compatible USB cable. Most HP printers use a standard USB-B to USB-A cable. Ensure you get the correct length for your setup.

2. Install the HP Smart App: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • If you haven't already, download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.

3. Connect the Printer via USB:

  • Plug the USB cable into the printer and then into your computer.
  • Turn on the printer. The computer should recognize it and prompt you to install any necessary drivers.

4. Add the Printer to the HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Click on the “Add Printer” option.
  • If the printer is connected properly, it should appear in the list. If it does not, try the following:
    • Ensure that the printer is powered on.
    • Try restarting your computer and the printer.
    • Reconnect the USB cable if necessary.

5. Troubleshoot Connection Issues:

  • If the printer still does not show up:
    • Check for any error messages on the printer’s display.
    • Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected at both ends.
    • Try a different USB port on your computer.
    • If you have another computer, test the printer there to rule out a hardware issue.

6. Driver Installation:

  • Sometimes, the necessary drivers may not install automatically. If you still have issues:
    • Go to the HP Driver Support page, enter your printer model, and download the latest drivers for Windows 11.

7. Consider Wireless Setup:

  • If you later decide to set up wireless connectivity:
    • Ensure that the printer is compatible with wireless connections. You can check the printer’s manual or HP’s website for information on how to connect it wirelessly.

Refer to this document: HP Smart Tank 500 Series All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
