The HP Smart Ap can detect the printer and begins to set up the printer, but after it connects to its special "HP Setup" network, it gives me an "unexpected error" and can't continue. I tried to manually connect the printer to my network via the touchscreen, but my network does not appear in the list generated by the Wireless Setup Wizard. The printer is two feet from the router, so I think it should be close enough to detect it.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's restore the network settings:

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ). 2. Touch Network Setup. 3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.

Once done, connect the Printer to the Wi-Fi.

Let me know if this helps.

I tried that several times, but it never worked. Eventually, I got tired of trying to connect wirelessly and just attached an ethernet cable.
