HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP printer is listed in my Printers & Scanners with other network printers.  It is connected wirelessly. However,  it is shown as "Driver is unavailable" but I have downloaded all available drivers from HP website.  I cannot make it print any documents.

Hi @Tom944,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're seeing a “Driver is unavailable” message for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer on Windows 11, even though you've downloaded drivers from the HP website. This issue can occur due to a mismatch between Windows and the printer driver, or if the driver installation was incomplete or overridden by Windows Update.

Recommended Steps to Resolve

  1. Uninstall Existing HP Software and Drivers
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps
    • Uninstall all HP-related software (HP Smart, HP OfficeJet drivers, etc.)
    • Then, open Print Management (press Windows + R, type printui.exe /s, and press Enter)
    • Go to the Drivers tab and remove any HP drivers listed.

  2. Restart Your PC

  3. Download and Install the Full Feature Software
  4. Re-add the Printer
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
    • Click Add device and follow the prompts to reconnect your printer.

  5. Optional: Use HP Smart App

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I completed steps 1 and 2, but now Hp Smart cannot find the printer even though it is showing as bein on the network.  Is my printer compatible with Windows 11 OS?

Hi @Tom944,

Thank you for getting back. Yes, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One is compatible with Windows 11.

Steps to Install the HP Smart App and Add Your Printer:

A. Download & Install HP Smart App on Windows 11: HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store

  1. Once installed, open the HP Smart app.

B. Connect Your Printer via HP Smart:

⚠️ Before starting: Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Windows 11 PC.

  1. Open HP Smart.
  2. If prompted, sign in with or create an HP account (required to use the app fully).
  3. Click “+ Add Printer” or “Set Up a New Printer”.
  4. Wait for the app to detect the printer. If it does:
    • Select your printer from the list and follow the on-screen steps.
    • HP Smart will finalize the setup, install drivers, and test the connection.

C. If HP Smart cannot detect the printer, try this:

Option 1: Reset the Wi-Fi on the Printer

  1. On the printer's touchscreen, go to:
Wireless Settings > Restore Network Defaults
    (This clears old Wi-Fi data)
  2. Then navigate to:
Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard
  3. Connect the printer to the same Wi-Fi again.

Option 2: Use “Add Printer by IP Address” in HP Smart

  1. Find your printer’s IP address (from the touchscreen under Wi-Fi/Network Settings).
  2. In HP Smart:
    • Click Add Printer > Advanced Settings > Add Printer by IP.
    • Enter the IP address manually.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
