I cannot get my computer to recognize tray 3. I purchased this printer in January and it has been recognizing tray 3 up until a few weeks ago. When tray 2 runs out of paper, the printer will still pull paper from tray 3. I have dug deep into the HP Smart App with no luck besides seeing that it says "tray 3 is not installed" in grayed out letters I cannot click on.

Thanks for the information @lharper1,

Within the General tab, find and click “Change Properties", in the bottom left corner. The Printer Properties box will close and reopen with administrator privileges.

Now open the Device Settings tab and you should be able to change the settings, then press Apply and OK to confirm any change.

May that help?

Hi,

Click the Start menu and then the gear (Settings) button.

Select Devices and then Printers & scanners.

Click your printer name and then click Manage.

Press Printer Properties, open the Device Settings tab and make sure the Tray is installed within the driver.

Press Apply, then press OK to confirm the changes.

Note that you may need to close and re-open the application used to print after making this change, for these settings to take a place.

Thanks for the information.

To get a better understanding of why the options are grayed out, could you please include a picture of the Ports and Advanced tabs of the same dialog?

Cheers,

Shlomi
