There is no printer icon and no left pane on the screen of my iPhone.

You're correct @eaglenn11, as this thread deals with removing a printer from the HP Smart app on a Windows 10 PC, not on a mobile device.

 

By holding your finger on the printer icon within the HP Smart app on iOS, a Forget this Printer button will be shown.
