Deskjet 2540
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have installled, uninstalled and reinstalled the software half a dozen times now on my Windows 10 machine, but I still have no interface to scan documents.

The installation process showed a succesful install and I was able to recognize and connect to the printer. In my start menu, the new "Scan & Print" option is indeed there, as shown in the screenshot (click on the screenshot for full image size).

But when I click on the option, instead of the usual scan and print dialog, I am faced with the "Connect a new printer" and "Add more software" options (see screenshot below).

How can I get to the good old scan dialog box?

Among others, I used to have an option here to scan directly to PDF. This option is not accessible from anywhere on the machine and is something I desperately need back.

Has this been removed from the Windows 10 version? I ran a computer search for "Scan", but the only options I get are the native Windows scan (which works great for individual pictures) and this dialog box. Nothing that would allow me to scan a multi-paged document to PDF

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP forum.

Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-2540-all-in-one-printer-series/5295960/mo...

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

You would be able to scan multiple pages to a PDF. This resource will show you how:

I thought that's exactly what I did the last time. I guess there is a lighter version of the software that I downloaded before?

Not sure, but it worked. Thank you 😃

Hi,

You may have downloaded the basic drivers instead of the FULL feature software.

Glad to hear that your issue is resolved and all is working well now.

Have a nice day!
