HP Deskjet 2620
macOS 10.12 Sierra

Hi. I have a pretty new HP Deskjet 2620. Just bought my first replacement black ink (61XL which says on the box and the HP website is compatible). But no printing - error message in HP Utility says cartidge not compatible. It still thinks I have no ink. So I downloaded HP firmware updater app from the HP site - but THAT doesn't work because it can't get as far even as device discovery. What is going on here - please someone help me!

Please go to the shop and ask them to swap to HP 65 or HP 65XL. Your printer is not on the following list

The Officejet 2620 is but the Deskjet 2620 is not. Deskjet and Officejet are not the same.

Regards.

No. Deskjet 2620 does not use HP 61 nor HP 61XL ink cartridges. It uses inks listed on the following table

Thank you banhien !   I live in New Zealand and the 61XL box really does say on the side its for HP Deskjet 2620 (among others). (Hover over left side of picture at this link to store where I bought it   https://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/p/hp-ink-61xl-black-%28480-pages%29/R1516840.html.   )  That said - pictures of the 61XL box elsewhere in the world tells a different - and obviously correct - story  ie, as you say, Deskjet 2620 doesn't use this cartridge !  I shall return to the store (which is also where I bought the printer)  (oh I wish I still had the receipts) and see if they're selling imported knock-off inks and request a refund!

Thanks again. Don't suppose you also know about the updater thing too?

We (you and me) are in the AP (Asia Pacific) region. Where did you buy your printer ? In NZ or elsewhere ? The table above shows where does the printer come from.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Done. The shop agreed that their website ad was misleading and replaced with HP 65. Which works!

Thanks banhien for your help.

Thank you. Have swapped the cartridge for the correct one and it works. Will sort out the Firmware Updater app later
