I recently switched from PC to Mac.
On PC I was able to do double sided (duplex) printing manually with my DeskJet 2630. However on Mac, there is no 'double-sided' box to tick where there should be. On the product specification page it specifies that manual duplex printing is supported so why is this lacking in MacOS? Surely an improved driver with feature parity would fix the issue?
Many thanks,
Joe

Hi @joexcm,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
The ability to perform manual duplex printing (printing on both sides of the paper by manually flipping the pages) is typically supported by most printers, including the HP DeskJet 2630, regardless of whether you are using a Windows PC or a Mac. However, the specific steps to enable manual duplex printing may vary depending on the operating system and the application you are using to print.
On Mac, you can usually enable manual duplex printing by following these steps.
- Open the document you want to print.
- Click on "File" in the top-left corner of the screen and select "Print" from the dropdown menu.
- In the print dialog box that appears, look for an option called "Layout" or "Finishing." The exact wording may vary depending on your printer driver and the version of macOS you are using.
- Within the "Layout" or "Finishing" section, you should find an option for two-sided or duplex printing. Select the appropriate option. If you can't find this option, you may need to click on the "Show Details" button to reveal more printing options.
- After selecting the two-sided or duplex printing option, click the "Print" button.
- The printer will print one side of the pages. Once it has finished, it will pause and display instructions for you to manually reload the printed pages into the paper tray for the second side to be printed. Follow these instructions carefully.
- After reloading the paper, click the "Continue" or "Start Printing" button on your printer's control panel or in the print dialog on your Mac.
This should enable manual duplex printing on your Mac using the HP DeskJet 2630 printer. If you still cannot find the option or if it doesn't work as expected, it's possible that the printer driver on your Mac needs an update. You can visit the HP website and download the latest printer driver specifically designed for your printer model and the version of macOS you are using. Installing the latest driver might provide better feature compatibility.

Hi @Alden4,
Thanks for the reply. I installed 'HP Easy Start' and in there I installed 'Essential Software' which I thought might be the solution. However, after restarting my computer, there is no duplex option still. See video - https://screenrec.com/share/hKFRrXL07e
Thanks,
Joe

Hi @Alden4,
That would cost me and I'm sure this issue is affecting multiple people - I've seen one other post here of the same nature. As a core reason I bought the printer, I don't believe I should have to pay to access this feature. Is there a way to receive further help for free?
Best wishes,
Joe
