Hi team
I have the HP DeskJet 4120e all-in-one printer and changed my wifi provider. Since the change, I have been unable to connect the printer to my laptop and phone (both apple products). The issue seems to stem from the Wifi connectivity in that the printer is simply not connecting to the wifi.
I have successfully used WiFi Direct from my phone but this has stopped working. Can you please provide support to:
1) Connect the printer to my new wifi
2) Fix the WiFi connect connectivity issue
Many thanks

Watch the reset video. After resetting, you generally have 2 hours to complete the setup. Decide if you want to connect the printer to the router or to print directly to the printer and bypass the router.
Many HP and other OEM printers have problems with the router when the router has two bands and both bands have the same name (SSID). Log into the modem and rename one of the bands. Alternately, contact your ISP and have them rename a band.
Or simply use Wi-Fi direct.
If English is not your native language or if you wish to get additional information not covered below, then use the HP and Microsoft support assistants. The latest HPSA supports 36 languages and can be downloaded here. Microsoft's AI assistant is in the latest Windows 10 and 11 releases and there are instructions here on how to enable the AI. Microsoft's AI assistant (Copilot) has a microphone button and supports natural language processing. |

For Wi-Fi direct setupclick here.
This is useful if you want to avoid using the modem/router.
Simple push button or WPS setup is described on page 22 of User Manual

Let me know if you have a flex system (Wi-Fi boosters or repeaters) as the setup is much more complicated for routers.

Thanks BeemerBiker.
I’ll give this a try and keep you updated. As stated, WiFi Direct has stopped working for me. Can you please advise?
I have tried re-starting the printer and re-adding the printers network to no avail. The printer shows as ‘ready’ on the app. It also shows as available but when I try to print I get either ‘check printer for error’ or ‘cannot connect to internet’.
Thanks

The E series need to have internet access to "phone home"
Possibly there is a problem doing this when using Wi-Fi direct. It should be able to contact the instant ink server whether connected to a router or via Wi-Fi direct.
The PC you are using for Wi-Fi direct, is it on the 5ghz but connects to the printers 2.4ghz Wi-Fi direct SSID?
See if you can put both on the same band. That printer is capable of 5 or 2.4
I assume you have signed up for instant ink or have canceled and are using genuine HP ink cartridges instead of instant ink cartridges.
Can you log into the EWS page and look for any error messages?
Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)
