Hello,
I just purchased for about 250$ of toner for my printer HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw. A few days later I did upgrade the firmware to the latest version and now the touch screen is unresponsive (only display the HP logo). I try several manipulation to recover from this situation to no avail.
Is there a place where I could get a previous version of the firmware to try to downgrade the printer? I would like to try that to see if it may solve my issue.
Tks for any help

tks for the advice. I did try your procedure. I did end-up with a chatbot replying to my request (other option provided was to go back to this forum). Total waste of time. It can only reply to basic question.
Anyway, it says my product is out of warranty. So the fact HP own firmware upgrade breaks their printer is probably not covered. Can you please advise?
To be honest, I purchased 4 brand new official HP cartridges for the printer. Hopping to save the planet to trash a fully functional printer. And after a simple firmware upgraded, I end-up posting on this HP forum like sending a message in a bottle thrown into the sea to try to salvage my printer. not good HP... not good guys

It is not possible to downgrade the firmware on the printers. However, below is the only firmware update available for your printer for Mac operating system.
Please help me with your region (Country) in a private message and I will share the contact details to get in touch with the support team.
You have a great day!
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
Cheers!

Dear The_Fossette,
I have the same problem just HP logo on the screen. Actually, all upgrades for the subject printer are for OS Catalina and I accidentally upgrade the firmware HP_M177_FW_Update_20200531.
You are repeating the same things, means try this or that, but at end there is no solution for this.
In download page officially stated, "HP Easy Start is the new way to set up your HP printer and prepare your Mac for printing. ..bla bla bla".
I (we) don't need HP "experts" to send me from one page to another without a final result. Yours "Accept as Solution." should not be a final one, we are the customers from who you are getting money. So could you please, once again please, give us a link with old firmware to finish this saga. Do not forget one thing, we deadly corona, we have kids, we have shools online, so we do need a functional printer.
On you "Iam employee" will add... I am customer.
Stay safe.

In fact you are right, I did not approve his response. I first wanted to check if he would follow-up on private message. He did not.
I'm not sure if they are really from HP. If they are, then this is a jock.

I was looking into a community with "No Replied" problems. There are 2,880 issues where a major part occurred after update from Mojave to Catalina. Would be enough to say that update was last year, so morons from HP did not resolved the problem for almost a year. I tried to contact some of the supervisors, but they ask for the phone in the questionnaire, which is right now the sword with one but not two blades, means risky ones.
I just hope that some of these experts with an average of IQ20 will move balls (if they have) and try to answer just simple with a solution. I attached the print screen after firmware update but that would be in ideal world. As you know the HP is not ideal, but far far and the far from the shadow of the ideal world.
I am just curious if there is any supervisor reading this complains, discuss on daily meetings (ideal world), and if the is any higher level in HP hierarchy who controls their IQ20???

I dont understand that you employee of the HP writing the link which is useless. You gave www.hp.com/contacthp/ and when tried to open link got nicely formulated "F-OFF". Proof attached.

This has also stopped my screen working on the printer. I also just purchased over £200 of HP supplies from you. I only have HP printers and have always sworn by them, I also resisted the firmware update since August, however my mac seemed to think it was ok to update the printers, and now the MFP177fw has a HP logo and unresponsive so I cannot photocopy, print or indeed scan. The old firmware should be historically available in cases of issues, so we can roll back, why isn't it? There are 1000s of people having the exact same issue.

Firmware which caused issues was August 2020 update
