CM 2303 MFP Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My computer blowed up and have to get a new machine.  It's a Dell Optiplex 7040 running Windows 7 64 bit.  I wasn't able to install the printer back on the computer. When I ran the installation software to install the driver, it automatically presume that I was installing a USB connected printer.

"This computer does not have the necessary USB software support to allow completeion of a USB installation. The installation cannot continue until this is resolved."

But I was intended to install the printer as network printer. I have to cancel to get out.

Then I tried to install a printer thru control panel, and selected to install a Network Printer. It detected the printer and showed up with the ip address, after I selected the printer and click "next", it started installin gthe driver and came up with,

WSD Print Device       Ready to use

WSD Print Device       No Ddriver found

Windows cannot locate a suitable printer driver.  Cantact your administrator for help locating and installing a suitable driver.

The printer installed was not working and with yellow flag on "troubleshooting".

I was able to install the printer by using "add printer" from "control panel" by sselecting "local printer", and set up a new port pointing to the printer IP, and selected "HP Universal Printinf PCL 6" driver. It worked.

But I'm not able to manage the priter or set up the fax function as before when I set it up thru the installation software. Can anyone help?

I'd been installing the printer driver for this printer on several different machines (laptops & desktops) before and never had any issue on the installation. Not sure what went wrong.  I even go to HP and download the driver again and nothing work.

Hi,
Click the Start button and type %temp% into the search bar, then open the shown Temp folder.

Open the latest HP installation folder which begins with 7z (e.g. 7zs1234)
Open the Setup folder.
Locate the usbready.exe file and rename it into usbready.old.exe
Browse back to the main extraction folder (the folders who starts with 7z) and launch the Setup.exe file.

Now follow the installation and check for any difference.
