Driver is unavailable / Driver Check issue not fixed

I have followed the following instructions in detail (three times uninstall/reinstall software and drivers and firmware - even tried the Windows Built-in Print Driver) and getting the same error:  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/Driver-is-unavailable-Driver-Check-issu...

The HP Print and Scan doctor states that Driver Check issue not fixed and tells me to submit to this forum.

My wife's Windows 10 Laptop (with same Windows 10 updates) on same network works fine for the same printer.

Can anyone help?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

  • 1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  • 2.) Select your HP Printer
  • 3.) Select Uninstall
  • 4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  • 5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
  • 6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
  • 7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  • 8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
  • 9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  • 10.) Select Ok
  • 11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  • 12.) Close Devices and Printers
  • 13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
  • 14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to the Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • 15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you but it fails to work (driver unavialable error)  after doing the uninstall/reinstall you mentioned.

1) I also checked the HP 5055 printer and network and it works:  My wife'can print to this same network printer fine using that same installation files on her WIndows 1p PC.

2) I can print to this HP 5055 printer from my PC ONLY if I hook it up directly via USB.

3) I can print to over network printers via the network (i.e. my neighbor's HP 6000 series printer).

However, everytime I try to add my HP 5055 network printer I get the same messsage:  "Driver is unavailable"

That's unfortunate. This requires remote assistance, please reach out to the HP Support in your region for further troubleshooting steps.
