Hi @Beerdog007,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To input your Wi-Fi key on your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw, follow these instructions:

Power on your printer:

  • Make sure your printer is turned on.

Accessing the control panel:

  • Use the control panel on the printer.

Setting up Wi-Fi:

  • Press the Wi-Fi button on the control panel.
  • Select Network using the arrow buttons, then press OK.
  • Choose Wireless Setup Wizard and press OK.

Selecting your network:

  • The printer will search for available networks. Select your network from the list and press OK.

Entering the Wi-Fi key:

  • You will be prompted to enter your Wi-Fi key.
  • Use the keypad to input the key. The buttons function similarly to a mobile phone keypad. For example, pressing the “2” key will toggle through “A,” “B,” “C,” “2.”
  • To input the key, repeatedly press the button until the desired character appears.
  • Once you have entered the correct Wi-Fi key, select OK.

Completing the setup:

  • The printer will attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi network with the entered key.
  • Once connected, the screen will display a confirmation message.

After performing these steps, your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw should be successfully connected to your Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.
