Hi,

I've been trying to install my printer's driver after I upgraded to Windows 10, but with no luck so far.  I tried all the methods I could find mentioned in this forum.

First I tried to install the full feature driver software directly.  I got error 1722. Then I followed the instruction to use the wizard, and disable the firewall.  When I used the wizard, I got error 1726.  I think both of these eorrs say  things like "
Failed to add port Hp Discovery Port Monitor."  I even followed the "solution" .hta assistant.  It didn't work.  The wizard seems to keep repeating itself.  So I had to click cancel.

I also tried to install the basic software with the firewall off.  I got error 1224: "Failed to copy Port Discovery files."

I ran Windows update.  It says evertying is current.

Error 1224 seems a small progress from error 1722, but that thread had no working solutions.

Please help!  Thanks much.

Hi,

Yes I was able to get the driver installed based on the solution in the Error 1722 post.  The user in that thread did an "in-place upgrade."  First I thought, I don't have an Windows 10 DVD, I wonder how I could do that.  Then I searched for the keywords Windows "10 in-place upgrade," and found out the "resetting the PC" is going to have similar effect.  It's under settings > Recovery > Reset this PC.

So again, it worked.  The downside is that, almost all the software I installed were removed, and I will have to re-intall them. Windows saved the list (a long one.)  But since I need the printer to work, that would just be something that I have to deal with.
