HP ENVY 4520 all in one printer
Microsoft Windows XP

I installed a new black ink cartridge, ran scan test, printed out a puzzle from the paper, next time I went to print, got  "Wrong or incorrect ink cartridge. I used HP Ink cartridge 63/302. Talk to the help desk and they are sending me new cartridge. Then printer would not shut down, something seemed to be running on it stuck on a loop, so I unplugged it and turned it back on and then got Error Code=OXB8536780

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Power resetting the printer and updating the printer may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps:

Step 1: Reset the printer

1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

2. Wait at least 60 seconds.

3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Step 2: Update the printer firmware

Click here (Win XP 64-Bit); here (Win XP 32-Bit)to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Step 3: Reinsert the ink cartridges and check for any paper jams inside the printer and if the print carriage moves freely.

Let me know how this goes.

Kumar 0307- I tried all this from the help page, The problem is this error code is blinking and will not change. I cannot remove the ink cartridges because they do not slide over to the removal position . When I unplug it and plug it back in it reads on the screen : MFG mode and a bar like the printing bar activates for a few seconds, then when I hit the power button it goes to the blinking error code OXB8536780 , and that is it, no buttons work, just flash.  I left it unplugged all night and when I plugged it back in same deal.   I am really unhappy with the HP solutions site, I wasted at least 3 or 4 hours trying to get a live tech helper. The automated help assistant is useless. Then I went to the sales site figuring it would be cheaper to just buy another printer than pay shipping and repair for this one, but I could not find the Model HP 4520 All-in-one, and could not contact a sales person for advice or help,  If HP wants to keep their customers they are going to have to spend the bucks to provide some live help. This is absolutly frustrating. I thought going from wireless to UBS cord would help, but the program to install a printer has a section that asks: Wireless or USB? When you click on USB a pop-up comes up and has one question that says  : I will wait until later to plug in the USB, at the bottom it has back and next, but the next button does nothing so you are just stuck there.....

Since the carriage isn't moving, I'm afraid this is a possible hardware failure with the print carriage.

Mr. Kumar, after spending hours trying to get tech help on chat I gave up and ordered a new printer, that also took me over two hours to accomplish, I went to three sales chat operators, because the first two did not bother to tell me that I had to go back to their site to complete the sale, so I just sat there and waited for a sale confirmation which never came. Now I find that I have to change my ink deal, because the new one does not use the same cartridge, I expect sprending at least !/2 day to accomplish that, life was a lot easier when you could just call on a phone and talk to a human. I cannot use a Phone as I am deaf, so it has to be chat.....I figure what I am going to do is try to find out where to send my Envy 4520 for repair, and find out if I still have warrantry, I bought it last May. Then if I get it fixed I will have a back-up printer. It is hard to get things done here in Alaska, we are off the beaten path so it is good to have a back-up. Thanks for the help and your TIME.

To: Asmita 6658, Got your message, I have not received and 'secret notes' I need to find the actually tech chat line, all the support section does is send me in circles and back and forth. I have the printer 'print out' with serial number, but when I type in the serial #  it says it cannot find a match for it, I tried three times without success. Why is it so hard to find the tech help chat line  section? This is very time wasting and frustrating trying to navigate the support section.....Any help appreciated. george...
