Hi,
I recently bought a DeskJet Printer (2633). However, when trying to set it up using HP Smart on MacOS Ventura 13.2 (btw, not an option to select this as operating system for this question...), I get asked for a printer password. This happens every time I want to change printer settings like the language or Wifi settings. This password has nothing to do with the WIFI password of my access point, rather it is a password locking the printer for unauthorised access (i believe). However, since I bought this printer, I would like to configure it.
I see two options:
- Retrieve this password somehow.
- Factory reset the printer, so that I can set a new password.
Sadly, from my online research, I could not find out how to do either.
I am well aware that I can print with the current state using either USB or AirPrint, but I dont consider this a long term solution.
I'd be really thankful for any help.

Hi @Rainbow23,
thanks for your response and support. Sadly, this did not help.
My problem is the same that is also described in these Threads (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/I-need-to-factory-reset-my-printer-that-has-admin-pa..., https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/How-to-reset-EWS-password/m...). I am trying to configure my printer, but the pre-owner set a password that I don't know.
When I connect via USB and try to configure the WIFI, I get this prompt (it is in German, please find a translation below).
Translation: Log in to the HP DeskJet 2600 series. A custom password has been set for your printer. Enter the password to access the printer's web interface.
In the related threads that I linked above, a solution was send via private DM...
I'd be glad If you could continue helping me with that!
