Hi @samisjewell,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To factory reset your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer, follow these steps.

Turn Off the Printer: Make sure the printer is powered off.

Unplug the Power Cord: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and also from the wall outlet.

Wait: Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.

Reconnect Power: Plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet.

Turn On the Printer: Press the power button to turn the printer back on.

Factory Reset:

  • On the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon (the gear icon).
  • Navigate to Printer Maintenance using the arrow keys or touchscreen.
  • Select Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Confirm the reset by selecting Yes.

Reconfigure Settings: After the factory reset, you will need to go through the initial setup process again, including connecting to your Wi-Fi network.

After completing these steps, your printer should be reset, and you can set it up as new.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
