Been onto both Apple and to HP.

It appears a huge HP problem.

If I have to buy another printer it will certainly NOT be an HP model after this fiasco.

My C4500 printer has nothing wrong with it and worked fine on old iMac.

Come on HP get your techs onto this fast as you are becoming embarrassing in your support of customers

I found another support page that says HP knows about this issue and is trying to fix it.  The only current solution is AirPrint, for those people whose printers support it.  Here's the page:

I'm having the same issue on my MacBook and also on my Mac updated to Ios 10.15.7. Form 10/23/10 I' cant print with my F2200. Yes is an hold printer, but with my old Window PC stil working. I think that HP must solve this issue quickly since I can't print urgent docs and I don't want to buy a new one since mine is still ok ( except for the software side)

HP J4580 printer failed due to 'Filter' failure.  Repeated messages urge a new download of printer driver.  This was done, but does not seem to affect response.  Still no printing.  I did an upgrade on the Imac to Catalina latest some weeks ago.  This problem is very recent.  No resets, no removing and restoring printer to the program,  helps.  Apple support can't work with third party programs.  It seems that the reloads have no impact on the original driver software, though it is programmed to "remove" the prior version.  Help

Same issue with HP DESKJET 945c on Kubuntu 20.04 with driver hpcups.

"Solved" by switching to driver foomatic.

What happened to hpcups?

Hi! same problem with my DESKJET F4580 in my MAC PRO (early 2009) with Mojave... I tried all... and nothing worked... always same error... but strangely, in my macbook 2013 (with mojave too) works fine... what kind of joke is this??? please SOLUTION!!!

Has anyone received a response to this "filter failed" issue?   I seem to not be able to find anything on it.   Thanks.
