HP 7310
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi I need some help, as this is really fustrating me.

I have a HP 7310 AIO printer. I recently upgraded my PC and now HP solution center no longer works. Also I am unable to print duplex even though duplex is installed and all the settings are correct. The printer is on the network. The printer has a IP address but if i try and install printrer via HP software, it says printer is unable to communicate with computer. Try unblocking udp port 427. I am able to print basic things but i am unable to print duplex even though all settings are set correctly. it still prints portrait even though it is set to print landscape. My old PC also had windows 10 installed and HP solution center worked fine. But for some reason HP solution center will not install on my new PC. I have tried removing printer and all associated software and reinstalling. still nothing. I am guessing it is not printing on both sides due to communication problems. I have even tried to disable firewall and install software, still not printing correctly.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

@Gman45,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

The HP Print And Scan Doctor might get this sorted out. Please download and run the HP Print And Scan Doctor from this Link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe

Run PSDR v5.0.2

Once the PSDR detects the Printer, it will show up the IP address and Software Status.

Select the correct Printer and click on Next.

PSDR will check if the Printer is on the Network and communication between the PC and the Printer. Once the connection check is done, click on Fix Printing

Once PSDR goes through all checks and automatic fixes, click on Print a test page.

Regardless if PSDR printed the test page or not, click on “NO PRINT”

PSDR will then notify you that there is an update available, click on continue, and PSDR will apply the patch and ask for a reboot.

Post restart the PSDR will run automatically to check for more issue.  If no issue found close PSDR.

Also, try using the HP Smart App and let me know if that helps. Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hp-smart/9wzdncrfhwlh

You can refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142 for more information on HP Smart App.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Ok I tried your solution. PSDR  says full software was not installed which i already knew as it will not install HP solution center. it still has problems communicating with PC but i choose ignore error and continue installing. then that is when comminicating error occurs. even though it sees the printer and ip address of printer. Still unable to print duplex and landscape even though i have set in settings and printing preferences. clicked on duplex installed under printer properties. still only printing in portrait and single sided.

Could it be the printer/software is no longer compatible with new pc. old motherboard was 2006 release, new motherboard is 2018 release. Gigabyte Aorus x399 xtreme.

@Gman45,

Did you try HP Smart App?

I recommend you root uninstall the root and then reinstall it and check.

Here is how it is done.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.

That was one of the first things i tried after doing a search. I even tried to download the original software as directed in one forum. I have also read that HP solution Center is no longer supported in windows 10, for printers manufactured before 2010, which mine is.  Also HP solution Center has been replaced by HP assistant.

No HP smart app also does not work. when i put in the printers IP address it cannot find it, even though the printers is there in printers and scanners menu.

@Gman45,

I recommend you assign a static IP to the printer and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.

Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.

Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.

Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)

Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.

Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

The printer has an IP address on my local network which is 192.168.0.20. this is assigned by the dhcp. a static ip will not make any difference, the problem is driver compatibility with the new pc. My  pc can communicate with the printer but it is not printing as to the settings. i.e if i tell in to print in landscape it still prints portrait. if i tell it to print duplex it still nly prints on 1 side.

@Gman45,

I recommend you create a new user account on the computer and then install the printer and check if it helps.

Follow the steps in the below article to create a new user account.
