It's been a while since I accessed the EWS on this slightly dusty HP AMP printer. I followed reset instructions available elsewhere on the Internet in hopes of resetting the EWS password so I can turn off wi-fi direct. Not only did I not manage to reset the EWS credentials, now I can't set the printer backup on wifi at all, it keeps saying that the printer was setup with a custom password. I have tried using multiple laptops, different 2.4Ghz networks, a smartphone, no joy. I'm convinced that the soft reset instructions for pressing the power button for 3 seconds, then the cancel and wifi buttons for 3 seconds does nothing but reset the wifi settings, which is not what I need. Other people's pleas across the internet echo the fact that they also get stuck here.
I've tried all the usual default passwords, 12345678, admin, blank, administrator, you name it. I'm a systems engineer, if I can't figure this out, nobody can. Please for the love of god, someone DM me the instructions for a factory reset.
Many karma blessings to you.

Hi @Ialreadyrtfm,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
We have to perform a Semi Full Reset to unlock the features of the printer/Reset the password.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
