I have been using the HP application on my iMac running the latest version of Big Sur. The printer is connected, I can print to it (because I don't need HP app for that) but I can't open the HP application anymore, which I need for scans - it just tries to open, then fails. When I tried to open the app from the finder menu, I noticed that the last 'change' was May 11 - last week. I presume HP must have updated it since I did not. I don't think I have used the scanner since then so I suspect that may be the problem. Any suggestions?

Ok, so I didn’t get any replies. So here we are on July 8 and I really needed my scanner. So I deinstalled the HP smart on my iMac and emptied the trash so it’s gone for good. Then I downloaded it again. Exact same problem. Clicked on the icon to open it, I see the circling icon showing that it’s thinking about it then it just disappears. So I gave up on HP smart. I had downloaded it when my HP easy scan stopped working a few operating system upgrades ago. So on a whim, I opened HP Easyscan which I never deinstalled and it’s now working again. So if your HP Smart doesn’t work anymore, give HP Easyscan a try.
