I was in the middle of a firmware update for my 1525nw. During the update the plug was knocked out of the wall, interrupting the update. When I got the printer plugged back in I got the error message “firmware corrupt ready 2 download”. I restarted the firmware update and now it won’t go past “erasing”. Can somebody help me get this printer up and running.

@Wetherdad Due to the current global COVID-19 situation, we're seeing an influx of customers coming in for support and we appreciate your patience.
That said, welcome to the HP community, here's a few steps that should help resolve the issue:
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
If the issue persists, I suggest you check my private message for steps on performing a full reset, the instructions are designed for your specific printer and if anyone with a different model would try the steps, it may render the printer unstable, hence a private message would be the safest way of sharing this information: Click here to know how the private message function works.
Stand by for updates!
And have a good day.

@Wetherdad If none of that worked, I'm afraid that means its a hardware malfunction and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,
