Hi,

I have  the same issue. I bought a brand new MFP 179fnw but I can't login in the web interface.

I tried using 'admin' with an empty password and all sorts of combination.

Can you provide me the instruction to do a reset of the password ?

Thanks !

Hello Jay_G24 (HP-Community),

we have the same problem … after the first start (by installing a brand new HP CL MFP 179fwg) we can't login at the web-interface. We've tried using the "correct" ID (admin) with an empty password and (of course) many sorts of other combinations.

At least we've installed the latest firmware-update, but the login-problem is still there.

Unfortunately, all manuals from HP don't help really by solving this topic !?

Can you offer me support with the bizarre Login- or Password-Problem?

Thank you very much in advance! 🤓

Helli ShlomiL,

I think we‘ve the same problem after installing the new MFP 179 for the first time.

The EWS/SWS-Passwort (ID = admin) seems to be not correct! We tried many other combinations, but nothing fits.

Another step (Clearing Parts via Tech-Menu/Tech-Setup) also shows no reaction. The Password (or ID?) in EWS/SWS (web-interface) is always wrong!

We‘ve restarted the device many times.

Can you show us a procedere for a total reset? Or do you know another ID / Passwort for login at EWS/SWS on a new printer like MFP 170 series?

Thank you for your answer ...! 😉
