Luckily they can't retroactively censor the digest emails they send out immediately when someone replies to a thread you are following 🙂 I managed to sniff out your google drive share. Didn't work for me though. But thank you so much for selflessly helping out us strangers on the internet Jean-Michel. The world has too many people like the decision takers at HP and not enough people like you!
If anyone needs help locating the firmware, see if you can find me elsewhere. One person already managed to do so 🙂

Thanks Mikeher87 for providing the final piece of the puzzle. I can confirm a successful reversion to v16, the printer is now working.
A final tip for those of you who manage to get the old firmware (or the new one posted by HP when they do for that matter): when you go into 'wait image' mode, the printer will move on to initialization fairly quickly afterwards ( a minute or so). Therefore, to succeed in uploading the v16 firmware you need to execute the dump quickly. There is no need to do it by the second but I would recommend having a powershell/cmd command line open at the folder where you have the firmware, with the line statement (usblist2.exe MFP170_V3.82.01.16.hd) ready, and as soon as you see 'wait image' at the printer, you hit enter. This will allow the full upload of the firmware while the printer is still listening.
My 2 cents.

Nixahn's method was God sent. Can confirm that it works here as well! What an amazing community this is ❤️
Hopefully HP will respond with a sincere apology and maybe even adjust their practises.
